Camping Excitment

The adventurous Jason and I decided to take Carter and Luke (the dog) camping at Shades State Park. We thought we could handle two nights but after the first night we weren't sure. It was so noisy at the camp grounds that we didn't get into bed around 11, which is 4 hours after Carter's bed time. We had the pack n play in the tent with us and were hoping he would sleep in that. Of course, that didn't happen. He cried and cried and eventually screamed so we put him in bed with us (the air mattress). We have a nice air mattress but you know how air mattresses are when you have two bodies on them. I keep sliding down on Jason and eventually just rested against him the whole night.

We eventually did fall asleep but not until around 1 a.m. and was woken many times through the night. We eventually got up around 7. You can imagine we were exhausted. We had fun making our breakfast over the campfire and even threw on a few marshmallows. We found the energy to go on a nice LONG hike. We borrowed our friends hiking backpack for Carter, which kept us on the trail longer because we weren't chasing after a little one. I was hoping he would sleep in the thing but that didn't happen.

Anyway, after the long hike we decided to go for a car ride to see if the little guy would fall asleep because he, well, we all were cranky. Carter and I both feel asleep on our way into town and slept for about forty-five minutes while Jason went and got some lunch. Before we left town, I got me coffee and was a happy camper.

We visited the car later in the afternoon for another nap because Carter refused to slept in the tent during the day. I got him to sleep in the car, which was parked at our site, for almost two hours :) After that, Micah, Holly, and Nala (Luke's cousin-another dog) joined us for the second night. We had a great time with them and stayed up way too late playing corn hole, cards, etc.
We thought we'd stay late the next day but decided to head out by noon because we needed some serious naps!
